PORTAGE (WKZO) -- Portage Public Safety officers suspect a foster care home resident who wandered away in late August may have died from exposure while lost in the Gourdneck State Game Preserve.

A preliminary autopsy on the body of 55-year-old Bonnie Merckley found no trauma or signs of foul play.  She was found by hunters in the woods Saturday morning, about a mile from Hudson's Country Manor foster care home.

It will be a month or more before investigators have toxicology reports and can close the case.
