KANSAS CITY, MO (1660 THE FAN) - Several things happened Monday night at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City. First of all, the Detroit Tigers won the AL Central title...second, Miguel Cabrera hit his league-leading 44th home run...and, oh yeah...Detroit beat the Royals 6-3. KC kept the Tigers scoreless, until Jhonny Peralta hit a solo shot in the 5th. The floodgates opened in the 6th, when Cabrera hit his home run...Peralta scored on an error...and then Gerald Laird hit a bases-clearing double to complete the damage. Rick Porcello was shaky, but gave only one run in five innings. Detroit still has to wait until the AL playoff picture shakes out until they know who they'll face in round one of the ALDs. Doug Fister will take the mound tonight in game two of the series. with broadcast time on 590 WKZO set for 7:45p.
