KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- A 31-year-old Kalamazoo man's been arrested for threatening a police officer, saying he intended to kill Public Safety officers.
Around 2 p.m. Tuesday, Kalamazoo Public Safety Officer Heath Shoemaker pulled into the Public Safety Station in the 600-block of North Park Street. There he spotted a man behind the wheel of a car parked in an area normally reserved for patrol cars, apparently patiently waiting to speak with an officer.
As Shoemaker approached the vehicle, the man jumped out and began storming toward him, shouting that he had a gun and he was going to kill Public Safety Officers. Shoemaker quickly detained him and the man was arrested for threatening a police officer, operating while intoxicated, and driving on a suspended license.
No weapon was found at the scene and the man was lodged at the Kalamazoo County Jail.
