Michigan's Attorney General takes over I-96 shooter prosecution

by

LANSING (WKZO) -- The mid Michigan man believed to be responsible for two dozen shootings, including the wounding of a Barry County resident, will be prosecuted by the Attorney General’s office.

The shootings took place across a four county area along the I-96 corridor and Attorney General Bill Schutte says he thinks it would be easier on witnesses and local jurisdictions if his office took on the prosecution.

Two counties have already charged 43-year-old Raulie Casteel with multiple counts, and two others were preparing to.

Police say it was Casteel’s 24th and final shot that went thru the door of Scott Arnold’s car, wounding him as he was heading for a World Series game in Detroit that was the last in the string, but it was a witness from one of the earliest shootings that generated the lead that resulted in his arrest.

Arnold, of Delton was struck in the rear end
