MARQUETTE (WKZO) -- The Presque Isle Power Plant in Marquette will keep generating power for the Upper Peninsula and Wisconsin thanks to an agreement between Governor Snyder, We Energies and Wolverine Power Cooperative.

The plant will have state-of-the-art emissions equipment added to its five units, and We Energies and Wolverine will now jointly own the facility.  The power plant supplies the electricity for 90-percent of the Upper Peninsula.

The changes were mandated by the Environmental Protection Agency, and without the agreement, the plant was in danger of being mothballed.
