LANSING (WKZO) -- The state Capitol is buzzing with activity as state lawmakers return from a very long break. The Legislature has only met a handful of times since late August, as members took time off to campaign and then have been out on a Thanksgiving break.
State Senator John Proos of St. Joseph says they will likely have between 100 and 150 bills to work on over the next three weeks for the lame duck session, and adds it's hard to predict what will happen. Among the items to be acted upon are reforming Blue Cross Blue Shield, revamping the state's business equipment tax, known as the personal property tax, and crafting a replacement for the repealed emergency manager law, Public Act 4.
