HARTFORD TWP (WKZO) -- An alert relative who lived nearby is being credited for interrupting a home invasion in Van Buren County.
It happened in the 65-thousand block of 63rd Street in Hartford Township around 8am Wednesday, where a suspect broke into a home but was interrupted by the relative and fled.
The relative gave police a good description of the suspect vehicle, which was found several hours later moving along Red Arrow Highway. During a traffic stop, one of the subjects in the car was changing his boots.
Police discovered the boots he removed matched the footprints at the scene.
The 41-year-old parolee from Hartford had only been released days earlier on prior home invasion charges.
He's back in jail pending arraignment.
