KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- Authorities have begun selectively letting some of the tenants of the Northwind Apartments return to retrieve items from their units. It's the first time they have been back since they were told to grab their shoes and evacuate last Sunday night following a fire that left many without a roof over their heads.
Most of the tenants have sought refuge with friends and family, but about 50 who had no other options are being sheltered at the Kalamazoo Gospel Mission. They are receiving additional aid from the Red Cross, who organized a visit from representatives of state agencies to advise the refugees Tuesdayday.
