KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- Voters approved a measure earlier this month requiring that the city permit three Medical Marijuana dispensaries in appropriate business zones, but Kalamazoo City Attorney Clyde Robinson has some advice for young entrepreneurs who are anxious to open medical marijuana dispensaries in Kalamazoo.
It’s the same advice the Governor of Colorado had after voters legalized marijuana there, don’t crack out the Cheetos and Goldfish just yet.
He says they can stop sending in applications and making inquiries because until the Supreme Court rules whether dispensaries are legal, there isn’t much point.
He says if and when they do rule in favor, which seems unlikely, the city would still have to go throught the Planning Commission and then the City Commission to decide what constitutes an appropriate Business zone for a marijuana dispensary.
He says until the Supreme Court rules, the issue will sit on a back burner.
