GENEVA TOWNSHIP (WKZO) -- A two car rear-end collision in Van Buren County is being blamed on a Grand Junction woman who had been drinking not only prior to getting behind the wheel, but while she was behind the wheel early Saturday afternoon.
Deputies say the 58-year-old suspect had been weaving in and out and speeding up and falling back behind a vehicle that contained a man and a woman and four children from Pullman, heading down County Road 388 in Geneva Township. Her driving was erratic enough to worry the first driver who tried to pull off into a driveway to let her pass. That’s when she plowed into the rear end of the car with her Chevy Trailblazer.
Everyone was belted in and there were only minor injuries. Three from the car were treated and released.
The suspect driver tried to hide her alcoholic drink behind a tree near the crash scene but a witness pointed it out to deputies. She was arrested for driving drunk and driving with an open intoxicant, and hauled off to jail for booking.
