KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- A 32-year old from Kalamazoo who crashed his 2004 Chevy Impala into a tree along Red Arrow highway early yesterday is free on bond this morning
Deputies say that Travis Radtke managed to avoid any injuries but won’t escape Van Buren County without facing charges. He had been arrested under the state’s new “Superdrunk Law” which carries enhanced sentencing, but the Prosecutor instead authorized felony operating while intoxicated, 3rd offense, which carries more serious penalties.
The deputy asked him what happened and he said he had too much to drink to be driving, and confessed he must have fallen asleep and hit a tree. Bond was set at 75-hundred dollars.
