KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- A Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Deputy has been arrested and charged with drunk driving. Deputy April Barfoot was spotted sitting in her car, which was parked in a bank parking lot on Portage Road with the lights on, the engine running and the driver’s door open.

The 34-year-old was arrested at the scene about 3AM Thursday. Because she works for Kalamazoo County she was taken to the Calhoun County Jail to sleep it off. She is charged with a misdemeanor driving under the influence first offense.

She will also face internal department discipline, even though the arrest took place when she was off duty.  A misdemeanor won't necessarily end her law enforcement career.
