Prince Charles lands birthday bird honour

From WENN.com

Activists at People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) have paid tribute to the royal, who turns 64 years old on Wednesday (14Nov12), by christening a bird 'Prince Charles' after it was recently rescued from a foie gras farm in France.

The future King of England has been praised by the group for his stance against the controversial pate, which is made from the specially fattened liver of a duck or goose.

PETA Senior Programmes Manager Yvonne Taylor says, ""The Prince has taken an admirable stand against a product so vile that its production is banned in the U.K. We could think of no better tribute than to name one of the gentle geese rescued from a foie gras farm during our investigation in his honour.""

PETA bosses have also named a goose 'Sir Roger' after Bond legend Sir Roger Moore, who is a vocal campaigner against foie gras.
