KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- It was an ambush in the Edison Neighborhood but at first, Public Safety didn’t know what to think. They responded to several reports of shots fired along Hays Park Avenue just after 8PM Tuesday and found nothing.
Two hours later, they got a call from 31-year-old Kalamazoo man who claims he was the target of that shooting.
He filed a complaint that he has had a long standing dispute with a 19-year-old who spotted his car on Hays Park, pulled out a 9mm handgun, and emptied it at him as he sped by. Police found 6 expended shells and two bullet holes in the car.
They don’t say why the 31-year-old waited two hours to inform police. Officers tracked down the gunman, arrested him for attempted murder and booked him into the Kalamazoo County Jail.
