SOUTH HAVEN (WKZO) -- A violent head-on collision near South Haven has left three dead and two other’s injured, and deputies say it appears that a drunk driver may be at fault.
Among the dead are two-year-old Kandice and four-year-old Cassadi Berryhill of South Haven, as well as the driver, 24-year-old Brittney King of Bangor. The two young girls, who were not in car seats, were in the back seat of a Grand Prix that was headed down County Road 388 Tuesday around 7:10 p.m.
Deputies say their drunk driving suspect, a 32-year-old Alabama man, was behind the wheel of a Ford pick-up that pulled out to pass a slower moving car and slammed head on into the Grand Prix. The truck driver and 24-year-old Justin Berryhill, the girl’s father, were airlifted to Bronson Hospital where they are listed in stable condition.
The at-fault driver has one prior drunk driving offense on his record and has been arrested seven previous times for driving on a suspended license. This will be his eighth. He is expected to face multiple charges.
