KALAMAZOO TOWNSHIP (WKZO) -- A $64,000 study of the US-131 Business Loop will attempt to determine whether or not the interchange at US-131 needs improvement.
Most of the study will be funded with federal dollars.
"If you're on the business route, you can only go northbound to Grand Rapids," Kalamazoo Township Supervisor-Elect Ron Reid told WKZO. "Likewise, if you're northbound on 131, you can't get to the business route...and get to Kalamazoo. That's long thought to be a difficiency," Reid said.
The so-called Kalamazoo Area Transportation Study will be 80% funded by the Federal Highway Administration, with the remaining amount split between Oshtemo and Kalamazoo Townships.
