New Emergency Manager bill possible by Christmas

by

ST. JOSEPH (WKZO) -- State lawmakers appear willing to make changes to the now-voided Public Act 4, which gave broader powers to emergency financial managers appointed by the state.  Representative Al Pscholka of Stevensville sponsored the law, which voters overturned last week, and says he's been talking to others at the Capitol about giving it another go.  He says he's been approached by Democrats that want to make some changes to the law during the upcoming lame duck session.  Senate Majority Leader Randy Richardville said before the election that if PA 4 was overturned, the Legislature would come up with a new bill stronger than Public Act 72 of 1990, which is currently in place governing the EFMs.
