ANTWERP TOWNSHIP (WKZO) -- Two men involved in a one car accident in Van Buren County early Friday morning could both be headed to jail once they are released from the hospital.
Van Buren County Deputies suspect the 23-year old driver from Gobles was driving recklessly on M-40 in Antwerp Township, when he went out of control at about 1:40 Friday morning and struck several trees.
He ran from the scene, leaving his passenger a 23-year-old man from Kalamazoo injured and trapped in the wreckage. He is being treated at Bronson Hospital for non-life threatening chest injuries.
Deputies contacted family members of the hit and run driver who told them he was ready to turn himself in. He tested .21, more than two times the legal limit for alcohol and is being treated for head injuries at Bronson Hospital.
The passenger had marijuana on his person. Both could face charges when they get out of the hospital.
