MIRS: Michigan Senator Debbie Stabenow will defeat Pete Hoekstra to secure 3rd term

LANSING (WKZO) -- MIRS is reporting that Senator Debbie Stabenow will retain her United States Senate seat defeating Holland native Pete Hoekstra.  MIRS says:

After great expectations for a close, hard-fought race, that never materialized. That was due, in part, to Stabenow's big money advantage and big endorsements from conservative groups like the Michigan Farm Bureau, as well as Hoekstra's stumbles in the Republican primary.

Even before the Aug. 7 primary, the race had dropped out of top 10 lists in Washington media like Politico and Roll Call.

Stabenow has led in every poll except two since December 2011, according to Real Clear Politics. The site's recent polling average had Stabenow with a more than 13-point lead. The New York Times' 538 blog gave Stabenow a 100-percent chance of winning, based on aggregating polls and other data.
