GRAND RAPIDS (WKZO) -- Grand Valley State University now owns an entire block of downtown Grand Rapids with the purchase of seven pieces of property in a residential area Friday.

The university will pay 1.2-million dollars for the land near Lafayette Avenue.  The school purchased the other part of the block last November.

GVSU plans to build a new health sciences building on the site, but no timetable has been revealed.
