KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- Bronson Healthcare announced Monday an intention to merge operations with HealthCare Midwest, described as a multidisciplinary physician-led practice based in Kalamazoo.
The merger is subject to legal and regulatory approvals.
HealthCare Midwest has 427 employees, 90 of whom are physicians and mid-level providers.
“The providers and staff of HealthCare Midwest are very much looking forward to becoming part of the Bronson family of companies,” HealthCare Midwest President, Robert Isacksen, M.D. said in a press release. “Bronson has an exceptional reputation for quality and service, regionally and nationally. Aligning our organizations will help us continue to advance clinical quality, integrate information technology, and recruit and retain a solid base of excellent providers.”
The release also quoted Bronson President and CEO Frank Sardone as saying: “The decision to take our longstanding relationship with this provider group to the next level is part of preparing for the future. There are many synergies to be gained. We believe that coming together better positions us for emerging changes in the national healthcare delivery system and will further enhance coordination of care for our patients.”
The merger is expected to take several months to complete. In the meantime, Bronson and HealthCare Midwest will continue to operate separately.
Eventually, HealthCare Midwest will be known as Bronson Healthcare Midwest.
