Parents looking close at college board candidates

DETROIT (WKZO) -- Parents of college students are reportedly taking a hard look at who is on the ballot for board positions at three Michigan universities.

The rising cost of tuition at the University of Michigan, Michigan State University and Wayne State University is a topic all of the candidates have discussed in their campaigns.  Those candidates all promise to keep tuition costs down as students struggle with more debt and the cases of loan defaults continues to rise.

A recent report found that between 2008 and 2012, tuitions costs at Michigan's public universities went up by over 28-percent.
