DETROIT (WKZO) -- Sales in October at General Motors were nearly five-percent higher than one year ago.  It was the best October performance in five years as new cars boosted the numbers.  GM officials credit sales of small and compact vehicles like the Chevrolet Spark and Chevrolet Cruze which rose by 72-percent year over year.

All four of the GM's divisions posted gains with Buick and Cadillac sales up by 14-point-five percent.  GMC sales were six-percent higher while Chevrolet posted a nearly three-percent gain.
