MINNEAPOLIS, MN (WKZO) - Detroit wins the second game of the series against the Twins Saturday with a 6-3 win. Max Scherzer had struck out nine before leaving early due to a rain delay, with Prince Fielder and his first four-hit game.
Scherzer was able to secure three runs and six hits in 5 ⅓ inning before leaving early. Dirks had two doubles and two RBIs for the Tigers. Cabrera with an additional two hits and two RBIs. The game started 20 minutes behind because of the weather. There was also an additional delay in the sixth inning due to a heavy downpour. Relief pitcher Octavio Dotel was on the mound after the delay and struck out Willingham and allowed Morneau to secure third base.
Minnesota’s Carl Palvano had six runs on 10 hits in 4 ⅓ inning. The Twins, who have lost four games straight, struck out sixteen times. Minneapolis hitter Willingham struck out four times, with Scherzer striking out the bottom four Twins batters.
Tigers pitcher Rick Porcello is set to start at Target Field in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The last game of the series is set to broadcast Sunday May 26th at 2:10pm on 590 WKZO.
