KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- They took to the streets in a movable memorial in towns all over the country, including Kalamazoo, to remember other bikers who have been killed or injured in collisions with cars.
They rode thru the streets last night in a spandex procession, sending a message to drivers to be more careful.
Riders who wore black armbands had lost someone in a collision or been injured themselves.
PORTAGE (WKZO) -- As riders were preparing for the Ride of Silence last night, a 20-year-old male from Portage was being rushed to Bronson Hospital for treatment of injuries after he was hit by a Blue Escort as he was riding his bike across Westnedge Avenue at Gladys St. The car was turning off Westnedge onto Gladys when he struck the bike. The name of the young victim was not released but he was last reported in fair condition.
Portage Police are looking for any witnesses, as they investigate the collision. It happened just before 4PM.
