HOLLAND (WHTC) - The Holland Department of Public Safety could soon have an armored vehicle. City officials have given the go-ahead for police to acquire a Hummer through a federal military surplus program. Public Safety director Matt Messer says the armored vehicle would be used in situations where the safety of officers and the public is at risk. The city won’t pay anything for obtaining the vehicle, which will remain government property, and may use grant funds or donations to prepare it for use as a police vehicle.
