LANSING (WKZO) -- An audit of the Bureau of Elections in Michigan has found over one-thousand dead people voted in elections between October of 2008 and June of 2011.
Officials with the Secretary of State's Office say there were clerical errors allowing the votes and no voter fraud was involved. The report finds problems with the Michigan Qualified Voter File and local clerk's offices statewide.
Officials say they found 12-hundred 36 deceased people voted with 90 percent of them casting absentee ballots. The records found 145 dead people voted in person.
State officials are working with local election officials to implement changes to prevent further problems.
