STURGIS (WKZO) -- Prosecutors will be sorting through the facts and trying to decide how to charge two parole absconders and the two women who were with them when they were recaptured in Sturgis.
When 31-year-old Darrell Stallard walked away from his work-release job mowing lawns in Lapeer last Tuesday, it prompted the Lapeer Schools to trigger a lockdown.
Prison officials say he only had 20-days left on his sentence. He is from St. Joseph County. Now he faces more time in jail if convicted of prison escape.
The Michigan State Police Fugitive Task Force tracked him to a home in Sturgis and took him into custody Thursday..
They believe the two women helped him escape in Lapeer, and they may also face charges. Also found at the address in Sturgis was a second parole absconder. a 39-year-old who had missed appointments with his parole officer.
