KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- Members of the Michigan Organizing Project held a protest against the Bank of America branch in Kalamazoo yesterday, but it was just a preview of a much bigger protest planned in North Carolina when the Bank’s stockholders gather for their annual meeting in Charlotte Wednesday.
Allison Colberg says Bank of America has been a bad corporate citizen, willing to take a bailout from the taxpayers, but failing to turn the money back around and loan it out. She says they were deeply involved in the mortgage manipulation and robo-signing that triggered the great recession.
Tuesday the protestors got 5 of the bank’s Kalamazoo customers to transfer their accounts to a savings and loan.
The Occupy Kalamazoo group has wrapped up their week long protest and encampment outside the bank at Rose and Michigan. The protest began on May first.
