KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- WMU officials confirmed Wednesday that junior defenseman Matt Tennyson has signed with the San Jose Sharks and will forego his senior season with the Broncos. From Pleasanton California, Tennyson returns to his roots which includes two seasons in the midget ranks of the San Jose Junior Sharks.

Tennyson, who will be 22 on April 23, leaves Kalamazoo as the third-leading goal scorer this past season with 11. Tennyson was an integral part of the Bronco power play, helping WMU to a 20.5 percent success rate on the man advantage, scoring 8 goals with the extra skater. Tennyson led WMU with 120 shots on goal and recorded 13 assists in 2011-12.

There is no official word on who will fill the roster spot left by the 6-foot 2, 215 pound defenseman.
