KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- The day of the famed Elton John concert in Kalamazoo has finally arrived. This evening Elton John will perform in front of a sold out Wings Stadium and roughly just over 6000 people will be in attendance for the intimate show. A show doesen't just show up and happen...it takes time and preperation on the part of the Wings Stadium staff and Elton John's setup crew.
Wings Stadium Director of Public Relations Mike Modugno took some time this morning to descibe that process in our first video coverage of what we have deemed: "Elton Day" in Kalamazoo. Modugno says this isn't unlike other shows in that the crew from the show comes in and essentially takes over the building while construction of the stage and the configuration of the venue is put together.
Modugno says the "K-Wings have given Elton a K-Wings jersey, it's actually going to be our third jersey with slappy on it and with Elton John on the back."
The concert begins at 8pm tonight and the production company has just announced that some last minute tickets have been freed up because of the configuration of the stage. Tickets can be purchased on Ticketmaster here: Elton John tickets or at the Wings Stadium box office. Wings Stadium says parking will be $10 for tonight's concert.
