LANSING, MI (WHTC) - Grand Valley State University President Thomas Haas was among four chiefs of public colleges who addressed a hearing of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Higher Education yesterday. He and his colleagues told Chairman Bob Genetski of Saugatuck and his panel that more funding from Lansing would help offset tuition increases, and that the legislature shouldn’t violate the spirit, if not the letter, of its constitutional requirement to maintain public universities across the state. The hearing was part of the state budget process.
