LANSING (WKZO) -- Secretary of State Ruth Johnson is asking the Michigan Legislature to address loopholes in the photo identification laws for voting. Johnson wants voters to be required to either show their ID or sign an affidavit of identity.
Johnson says it is possible at this time for someone to register to vote, and then attempt to vote absentee without showing identification or signing an identity affidavit. Johnson adds that the option to sign an affidavit is a safety net to make it possible for those without a picture ID to be able to cast their vote, too.
