KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- Kalamazoo County has administered the Head Start program for three decades, but now the administration thinks it may make more sense to let K-RESA take over the federal contract. They already run two similar pre-school programs and they think combining them might make sense. Employees of the program aren’t so sure. They would not be guaranteed jobs if K-RESA takes over. K-RESA Superintendant Ron Fuller says he suspects they would change little initially, simply because there isn’t that much time to make major changes. The County Board is due to vote on the proposed transfer in two weeks, to meet federal deadlines, and the commission remains split on the issue.
