VALLEY TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO) -- Methamphetamine abuse can be a nightmare for those who use it and those who know the people who do. An Allegan County man is facing serious charges after taking his own son hostage, threatening him with an axe. He had and gone without sleep for three days, high on the drug.
When he tried to leave their Valley Township home with the TV set to sell for more drugs, his wife tried to stop him, his daughter tried to dial 9-1-1, and he allegedly assaulted them both. That’s when he holed up in a bedroom with his son and the axe.
They were eventually able to talk him out. He is de-toxing in custody. He faces domestic assault, unlawful imprisonment, and because he is a repeat offender, he could get extra years added to his sentence.
