CHICAGO (1660 THE FAN) – In his major league debut, Anthony Rizzo was as advertised for the Cubs in their 5-3 win over the Mets at Wrigley. The win is their second straight at home after being swept in Arizona.

The rookie first baseman went 2-for-4 with an RBI and an extra base hit in the third scoring Steve Clevenger.

Trailing 2-0 in the third, the Cubs’ bats broke out scoring three unanswered runs to take the lead for good.

Randy Wells only lasted three innings, giving up all three runs on six hits. The Cubs bullpen only surrendered two hits in relief to secure the win.

The Cubs will go for the sweep Wednesday. Jeff Samardzija heads to the hill against Jon Niese at 2:20 pm.
