KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- It took a while for his past to catch up with him, after he was first suspected of molesting a patient at the State Hospital in 2004.

New evidence that surfaced in a separate investigation, convinced the prosecutor to move on the case this year, and yesterday Dannie Helgeson was given 2 to 15 years in prison, after agreeing to plead guilty to first degree criminal sexual conduct.

In exchange two other counts were dropped. Helgeson worked as a residential care aide at the State Psychiatric Hospital until this year, when charges were filed.
