PORTAGE (WKZO) -- A motorcyclist from Kalamazoo was killed when a driver, who may have been suffering some sort of medical problem caused a multiple car collision on the eastbound off ramp at I-94 and Portage Road.
Three cars and the motorcyclist collided on the ramp as the driver struggled to maintain control of the vehicle. It happened just after 5PM.
Portage Public Safety says they got a call about a van being driven erratically just before the crash and were already on their way when it occurred. The van struck another vehicle in the rear and it lunged forward and struck 66-year-old David Pease on his motorcycle, killing him.
The driver of the van was taken to the hospital, but was expected to be treated and released. It’s all under investigation at this point.
