Red Sox defeat the Cubs

Boston, MA (WKZO) - Chicago is unhappy today after losing to Boston 7-4. For Boston, Pedroia scored a double to deep center, while Podsednik was able to score a run in the top of the first, giving the Sox a 2-0 lead. Johnson was able to score a run for the Cubs off a pitch from Morales to Castro. The Tigers were able to bring the score to 2-2 when Castro hit a double in the bottom of the 3rd, letting Barney score a run.

In the Fourth, Ortiz hit a homer to deep center for the Sox, bringing the score to 3-2. The score remained the same until the sixth when the Cubs were able to tie the game with a grounder by Baker with Soriano getting to second and Barney earning another run. This didn’t last long though, as the Red Sox scored another four runs in the 7th. Kalish singled to center, while McDonald, Saltalamacchia, and Kalish all scored. Boston brought the score to 7-3 when Ortiz scored in the top of the 8th. Chicago made another run in the 9th, when Campana scored off a sacrifice fly to center from DeJesus.

The Cubs play again tomorrow against the White Sox, with Garza pitching at 8:10pm on 1660 The Fan.
