LAWRENCE (WKZO) -- He was a star athlete, class president and honor student at Lawrence High School but James Reeder had been arrested twice for alcohol in the months before graduation, and on the morning of the ceremony, he apparently got drunk again and it killed him.
Toxicology tests now confirm that Reeder not only had a blood alcohol count that was twice the legal limit when he slammed head-on into a semi just hours before graduation, but also had marijuana in his system. The crash occurred just below the Michigan/Indiana State Line.
