Detroit, MI (WKZO) - The Tigers won against the Rockies in Detroit today 1-4 in the second game of the series. Miguel Cabrera hit another home run in the bottom of the first, his 14th of the season, as well as scoring a run in the fifth. Cabrera hit a grounder that Friedrich caught and threw a wild ball that Wilin Rosario had to chase down. Rosario threw too far past Pacheco at third, which allowed Cabrera to score.

Rockies pitcher Doug Fister threw six shutout innings, in his first game since being on the bench due to a ribcage injury in May. Fister struck out six and allowed three hits. This was the Rockies 9th loss in 10 games. Fister was able to strike out 11 batters and retired after Carlos Gonzalez’s infield single in the fourth. Rockies’ Friedrich gave up three runs on three hits along with five walks in five innings.

The Tigers scored in the fourth making it 2-0 after Friedrich had walked Jackson when the bases were loaded. Prince Fielder had another run with a sacrifice fly in the 7th.

The Tigers play again Sunday in Comerica Park with Scherzer pitching.Catch the game on AM 590 WKZO at 1:05pm.
