BATTLE CREEK (WKZO) -- They have snipped the ribbon on Battle Creek’s new Intermodal Transportation Center which will provide one central location for intercity bus and train service in an out of the Cereal City.
The 3.6-million dollar renovation was federally funded as part of a series of upgrades to the Amtrak system between Detroit and Chicago.
As part of the larger project, Dearborn will also be getting a new Station, and eventually the track between Kalamazoo and Dearborn will be purchased and upgraded so that passenger trains can travel at up to 110MPH, trimming the time it takes to ride the rail.
The Intermodal station also offers access to Greyhound and Indian Trails buses.
