KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- Pfizer says it’s spinning off its animal health division and local industrial Economist Brian Long sees that as a good thing for the firm, because they will be free to grow and expand on their own.

Dr. Long says the people at the company he has talked with are happy about it too because it means some new owner won’t be packing everything up and moving to New Jersey. He says it would be even better if they decided to put the headquarters of the new firm in Kalamazoo.
