DETROIT (WKZO) -- The city of Detroit is now on the list of local governments banning the sale of synthetic marijuana. Detroit officials have issued an emergency order banning the sale of K2 and spice along with stimulants known as bath salts within the city.
Macomb, Oakland and Wayne counties all have initiatives in place to stop the sale of the substance and earlier this week, West Bloomfield Township passed an ordinance make the sale of K2 a misdemeanor, punishable by a fine and/or time in jail.
The state legislature is also working to ban the synthetic drugs, and lawmakers say bills which would label K2, spice and bath salts as controlled substances should be on Governor Rick Snyder's desk next week.
