Kristen Wiig Says Farewell To 'Saturday Night Live'

By Aly Semigran, Hollywood.com Staff

Well, that settles it: Sadly, this definitely seems to be the end of the road for Kristen Wiig on Saturday Night Live. After much speculation that this would be her last season, Wiig was given the proper rock star salute during Saturday Night Live's 37th season finale. Quite literally, in fact, as the funny lady was bid adieu by host/musical guest Mick Jagger in what marked her last sketch (for now) after seven star-making years on the comedy show.

In the last sketch of an episode that featured many of Wiig's beloved characters — see: Junice and Mindy Grayson — the Rolling Stones frontman helped give a special goodbye to a graduating senior named Tristan (played by Wiig). In a lovely, touching moment, with musical accompaniment by The Arcade Fire, Wiig had one last dance with each of her castmates to the tune of ""Ruby Tuesday."" A tear-filled Wiig seemed to have the most emotional moments with Lorne Michaels, Bill Hader, Jason Sudeikis and Andy Samberg. (The latter two are rumored to be done this season as well, though nothing has been confirmed and neither had their own sendoff, unless you count Samberg's ""Lazy Sunday 2,"" a full-circle sequel to his very first digital short on the series.)

No matter how you felt about some of Wiig's more polarizing characters like Gilly or the Target Lady, there's no denying her impact on the show and how sorely she'll be missed next year. One of the funniest performers to step on the Studio 8H, female or otherwise, Wiig left an indelible mark on the late night institution. If anyone deserved a beautiful, star-studded farewell -- that also included the likes of special guests Jon Hamm, Steve Martin, Amy Poehler, Chris Kattan, Chris Parnell, and the Foo Fighters -- it was the one and only Kristen Wiig. <
