DOUGLAS (WKZO) -- the SS Keewatin is finally headed home to Canada. Tugboats got the vessel free from sandbars Thursday afternoon in Douglas after the voyage got delayed by a day when it got stuck on Wednesday. R.J. Peterson and his wife bought the ship in 1967 and turned it into a museum and tourist attraction in the Saugatuck-Douglas area, and he says he just got too old at 85 to keep it up. It is headed to Georgian Bay in Canada to be refurbished again.
