LUCECOUNTY  (WKZO) --   Fire crews continue to slowly make headway against the Duck Lake fire in Luce County, helped in the past few days by cooler and wetter weather.

Yesterday Governor Rick Snyder and Senator Debbie Stabenow both stopped by for a tour and a briefing.   Stabenow says she has been talking to FEMA about assistance.  But FEMA officials say not enough damage has been done to qualify for federal aid.

So far the fire has destroyed 135 buildings, and left 35-square miles blackened . They say it’s about 57% contained.
