OTTAWA COUNTY (WKZO) -- A Fruitport man died sometime Friday night or early Saturday morning. They aren’t sure when because his car landed some distance from the roadway.
Deputies say judging from the skid marks, 48-year-old Randall VanKoevering lost control of his car on 96th Ave. in Crockery Township, overcorrected and shot off the roadway, flying off the edge of a ravine and landing about 100 feet away.
The wreck was discovered Saturday morning, lying on its roof. VanKoevering was pronounced dead at the scene. He wasn’t wearing a seat belt.
