BALTIMORE, MD (1660 THE FAN) - Going into the 2nd half of the season, the Detroit Tigers were looking to maintain the momentum they built up to the All-Star break. Five straight wins, and over the .500 mark with two games to spare. The Tigers faced Baltimore Friday night, with hopes that Doug Fister might be ready to display the prowess he demonstrated last season. Mission accomplished. Fister gave up only one run in 7 strong innings, aided by two early runs, as Detroit claimed a 7-2 win over the Orioles. Homers off the bats of Miguel Cabrera and Jhonny Peralta added to the final tally. Game two of the series is set for Saturday afternoon, with broadcast time on AM 590 WKZO set for 3:40 pm.
