PORTAGE (WKZO) -- Kalamazoo County Deputies have released the name of the woman who lost her leg in a boat propeller Sunday evening.

She is Kirshaiah Brodie-Stevenson. The 23-year-old Kalamazoo Central Grad was being towed behind a boat riding an inner tube in Austin Lake in Portage when the boat stopped to pick up passengers.

The victim was floating behind the boat when it backed up over her, and she was pulled into the propeller, and under the water. Her leg was severed near the knee.

Other tubers pulled her out of the water and onto the boat where she was rushed to shore and a waiting ambulance. She is listed in Serious condition at Bronson Hospital’s Trauma unit.
